Youth & Family

We believe that raising our children into lives of faith and service is a key part of a strong congregation. From baptism through high school graduation, we work closely with our young people and their families to provide safe, fun and Christ-centered activities.

We are a church that invests in our youth and guides them as they connect faith and life. Our young people are active people of faith, volunteering in our community and in our congregation. We take great joy in seeing young people in our church and give thanks for the ways in which they enrich this congregation. We take great joy in seeing young people in our church and are grateful that they are such active members of our congregation.

Frolic is a new curriculum we are using at St. Matthew to connect Christian faith with developmental milestones, ages 0-3. Frolic helps lay foundations of faith, helping our youngest children understand God, themselves, and the world around them.

We have Sunday School for all ages on Sunday mornings from 9:50 to 10:40.  We use the Spark curriculum for children ages two through grade five. Our program focuses on the scripture readings that are heard in worship and incorporates music, activities, and curiosity into the learning experience.

Milestone Ministries are age specific special events to mark a important milestone in a Child’s life. From remembering our baptisms to celebrating our graduating seniors, there is something for every age!

Confirmation is a ministry to our middle school students, Grades 6-8. It is a time for middle school students to gather together and explore connections between their faith and everyday experience, a place to ask tough questions that have beenYouth8-18-1 considered for thousands of years before, and to grow in relationship as friends and family in Christ.

Large group gatherings take place on Sunday mornings from 9:50-10:40am in the Confirmation Room. Here we gather, talk about our topic for the week, and explore it together through conversation, games, activities, and video.

Wednesday Night Huddles take place 2-3 times a month and are meant for us to grow together in a small group format. Students may be meeting with their small group leader for discussion, sharing a meal together, group bible study, a service project, or worshipping through prayer stations.

Camp, retreats, and lock-ins are also a component of this intentional ministry.

Youth8-18-2Our Student Ministries (Grades 9-12) seek to dispel the myth that church and real life do not go together. Together we learn, grow, explore, wonder, and connect—inspired and fueled by God’s love for us in Christ. Youth group meets on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month from 6:30-8pm. It is a time for us to to gather at the church, explore a topic, play some games, crack open a bible, pray, and connect with each other before beginning another week. Special events such as retreats, service projects, interfaith visits, and more are planned throughout the year.childreninworship-lg2

Service is an essential call that we all have as Christians. We help to provide opportunities for all ages to get out in the community and serve our neighbors. From simple morning projects for our young families to week-long intensive service-learning trips with our middle and high school students, there are ways for everyone to get involved!
